چکیده

mas, are malignant neoplasms arising from a single clone of plasma cells. They are commonly found in the axial skeleton; especially in the spine, pelvis, and skull and are characterized as expansile osteolytic bone lesions on radiography (1). The MR imaging findings of plasmacytoma or multiple myeloma located in the spine has been well described, but nonspecifically (2, 3). Plasmacytomas usually present as a marrow-replacing process with variable signal intensity on T1-weighted images and high signal intensity on T2-weighted images (1-4). Therefore, it is often indistinguishable from other marrow-replacing processes such as lymphoma or metastasis. For extraspinal lesions, the MR imaging features of plasmacytoma were rarely reported and, to our knowlJ Korean Soc Radiol 2009;61:257-262

Solitary plasmacytoma of the thumb: Arare case report

Abstract   A solitary plasmacytoma of bone occurs in approximately 2-5% of patients with   myeloma. The lesion mostly found in the axial skeleton and have infrequently been   reported to arise in the hand, and usually occur in the distal phalanges. We report the   interesting case of a 75-year-old man who developed a solitary lytic lesion of the   thumb proximal phalanx. This lesion was explo...

CT and MR imaging of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the nasal tract.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma (SEP) is rare. The purpose of this study was to determine the CT and MR imaging features of SEP of the nasal tract. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed three CT and two MR images of three histologically proved cases in two men and one woman aged 43-66 years. RESULTS The plasmacytomas predominantly involved the nasopharynx in two ca...

Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Pancreas: Imaging Findings: Case Report

the incidence of extramedullary plasmacytoma is 5% of all plasma-cell neoplasms. The vast majority of extramedullary plasmacytomas present as a tumor secondary to systemic myelomatosis of the bone marrow; extramedullary plasmacytoma involving the pancreas is very rare, and only 19 cases have been reported in the English-language literature (1). A few such reports have described the radiologic f...

Craniocerebral plasmacytoma: MR features.

We report the MR imaging findings in two patients with solitary craniocerebral plasmacytoma, a benign plasma cell tumor that can arise from the skull, the dura, or, rarely, the brain. In both patients, the lesion was extraaxial and nearly isointense with gray matter on T2-weighted MR images, and diffusely enhanced after administration of contrast material, bearing some similarities to meningiom...

Comparison of state-of-the-art atlas-based bone segmentation approaches from brain MR images for MR-only radiation planning and PET/MR attenuation correction

Introduction: Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in radiation treatment (RT) planning as well as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging owing to its superior soft-tissue contrast. Due to the fact that there is no direct transformation from voxel intensity in MR images into electron density, itchr('39')s crucial to generate a pseudo-CT (Computed Tomography) image ...
